Shetland Green Badge Tourist Guide Training 2019/20

We hope to run a guide training course for Shetland commencing September 2019

The course consists of two parts

Part 1 – Shetland Studies

This is open to anyone who would like to know a bit more about Shetland and consists of 16 evenings and 5 field trips, the last session will be mid December 2019.  Each topic covered is led by a local expert.

Green Badge, Part 2 – Guiding Skills

This part is only available to those who have completed part 1 (minimum attendance 80%).  This part consists of 17 weeks, most Saturdays and Tuesday evenings.  The last session will April 2020, followed by two days of assessments at the end of April 2020.
We will teach you the professional skills necessary to become a qualified Shetland Green Badge guide. The “Green Badge” qualification is recognised world-wide as an industry standard.

Yellow Badge, choice of 3 routes Part 2 – Guiding Skills

This part is only available to those who have completed part 1(minimum attendance 80%). Choose from the Lerwick Walk (95 hours), South Mainland (116.5 hours) or West Mainland (124 hours). This part is mostly Saturdays and Tuesday evenings. The last session will April 2020, followed by two days of assessments at the end of April 2020.
We will teach you the professional skills necessary to become a qualified Shetland Yellow Badge guide. The “Yellow Badge” qualification is recognized world-wide as an industry standard.

The hours mentioned are contact hours only, the course consists of 40% contact hours (spent with trainers) + 60% self study
